DUSHANBE, 2 June 2016 – The OSCE Office in Tajikistan today donated equipment to the Border Troops of Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security that will be installed at border checkpoints in the newly-built terminal of Dushanbe International Airport to allow for advanced verification of passports.

The equipment includes a video-spectral comparator with information-reference system, a spectral fluorescence microscope, compact devices for express authenticity verification, a spectral luminescent magnifier and desktop computer sets.

“This set of equipment for advanced document checking at the border checkpoints will strengthen Tajik Border Troops’ capacity in their day-to-day work in identifying forged and counterfeit travel documents,” said Markus Mueller, Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.

Izatullo Fayzulloev, the first Deputy Commander of Tajik Border Troops thanked the OSCE for its continued support in strengthening the border security of Tajikistan. “This technical equipment for border control points will be used effectively for strengthening the state border,” he said.

The equipment was provided by the Border Management Unit of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan in the framework of its 2016 budget.
