From 21 to 22 May, Tajikistan National Mine Action Centre (TNMAC), and with the support of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) organized the 2026 Working Group Meeting on Gender Diversity in Mine Action in Dushanbe.

The two-day event brought together representatives of TNMAC, Norwegian People’s Aid, the Swiss Foundation for Mine Action and OSCE POiD to strengthen the integration of gender equality and diversity considerations into mine action policies and operations in Tajikistan.

Sessions covered international frameworks, including United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, as well as national gender equality mechanisms and approaches to gender mainstreaming in the security sector.

Through presentations, interactive exercises, and group work, participants strengthened their practical skills in gender analysis and gender-responsive planning. Discussions highlighted the importance of addressing the different impacts of mine contamination and clearance activities on women, men, girls, and boys to ensure more effective and sustainable outcomes.

The meeting also provided a platform for co-ordination and knowledge exchange among national and international mine action stakeholders, resulting in practical recommendations for further integrating gender and diversity perspectives into mine action programming in Tajikistan.

The OSCE POiD remains committed to supporting national partners in advancing inclusive mine action and promoting gender equality as a key component of comprehensive and sustainable security.
