On 24 April 2026, the Programme Office in Dushanbe provided additional 36 body cameras to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, further expanding the technical resources available to Dushanbe’s traffic police. Combined with the 24 body cameras provided in November 2025, the Office has now delivered a total of 60 devices. This pilot initiative is a crucial part of the ongoing efforts to modernize policing practices in Tajikistan, supported by the OSCE.

To complement the donation of the body cameras, the Office conducted five practical training sessions for a total of 55 traffic police officers (all male) from 20 to 24 April 2026. These training sessions focused on legal and practical aspects of the effective use of the new technology, equipping officers with the skills necessary to integrate body cameras into their daily service.

The body cameras are capable of recording video and audio continuously for up to 24 hours, provide high-quality footage, and are designed to operate in demanding conditions, including extreme temperatures.

The initiative represents an important step toward strengthening transparency and accountability in law enforcement. The use of body cameras is expected to enhance public trust, ensure more objective documentation of police-public interactions, and support internal review and training processes.

Colonel Tolehzoda Azam Tolib, National Coordinator on Police Reform under the Ministry of Internal Affairs attended the handover ceremony and expressed his appreciation for the ongoing co-operation.
