Applications are now open for the Summer School of Journalism 2026 until 08 April. The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe invites applications for a two-week intensive programme aimed at strengthening professional journalism and public communication practices in Tajikistan and across Central Asia.

Building on the positive experience of the 2025 pilot, the 2026 edition further develops and expands the programme, offering participants a structured and practice-oriented learning environment that reflects the evolving demands of the media landscape.

The programme is designed for young media professionals, early-career journalists, public communication officers, press secretaries, and journalism educators who seek to enhance their skills and adapt to the challenges of a rapidly changing digital environment. Participants will engage in a combination of lectures, interactive workshops, practical exercises, and collaborative assignments led by experienced trainers and experts.

Throughout the programme, participants will strengthen their understanding of core journalism principles, including reporting, interviewing, and storytelling, while also exploring key topics such as media ethics, freedom of expression, fact-checking, and countering disinformation. Particular attention will be given to the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in journalism, as well as to the development of multimedia storytelling skills, including video and audio production.

The Summer School places a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, enabling participants to apply newly acquired knowledge in practice. Through guided exercises, mentoring, and production labs, participants will work on developing their own journalistic outputs, gaining practical experience and receiving constructive feedback.

The programme also aims to foster professional dialogue and collaboration among journalists and public communication officers, contributing to improved understanding, transparency, and engagement between media and public institutions. By bringing together participants from different backgrounds and countries, the Summer School supports the development of cross-border professional networks and encourages peer learning.

Participation in the programme requires full availability throughout its duration, from 28 June to 12 July 2026.
