DUSHANBE, 18 April 2014 – Twenty-two officers from Tajik border enforcement agencies completed today an OSCE-supported training course on senior management skills.

The two-week course was organized by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan and involved one representative from the Foreign Ministry’s Consular Department, 11 officers from the Tajik border troops and ten officers from the Tajik Customs Service.

“The Office in Tajikistan is helping to build the capacity of Tajik border and security agencies by enhancing their management and leadership skills in problem-solving in accordance with relevant organizational goals and strategies,” said Hans Peter Larsen, Deputy Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan. “This training aims to contribute to the successful implementation of the Tajik National Border Management Strategy.”

The training course was delivered by an international expert from USA on law enforcement leadership and management. Participants learned about leadership concepts, models and frameworks, and proactive leadership strategies. The training also introduced understanding of human capital and gender awareness, strategic management and planning as well as effective public speaking and briefing skills.

The event is part of a series of training courses planned by the Border Management Unit this year aimed at the capacity development of Tajik border-related agencies.
