Twenty Afghan and Tajik border officers completed a two-week OSCE patrol medical course on 13 December 2013 under the Patrol Programming and Leadership Project in Dushanbe.

The advanced course was designed for border officers who had already attended a basic patrol leadership course. During the two-week course, nine Afghan border police officers and 11 Tajik border troops guards learned how to react to and provide medical care in case of emergency situation. The course included practical exercises on working in scenarios that require crossing rivers.

At the graduation ceremony, Ambassador Markus Mueller, Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, confirmed the readiness of the Office in Tajikistan to continue advancing the skills of Afghan and Tajik border guards in 2014. The ceremony was also attended by the representatives of Tajikistan’s border troops and  the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tajikistan.
