OSCE trains Tajik border and law enforcement officers on criminal procedure code

DUSHANBE, 24 May 2013 – Twenty-four officers from the Tajik Border Troops, Customs Service, State Committee of National Security and Drug Control Agency completed today a two-week training course on the criminal procedure code organized by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.

All graduates currently serve in an investigator capacity in Tajik border and law enforcement agencies. During the course, they learned how to make investigations on illicit drugs and human trafficking and human smuggling along with crime-scene management in order to complete whole investigative process before the court and properly prepare case files.

Ambassador Markus Mueller, the Acting Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, congratulated the officers on completing the course and said: "Developing the skills of Tajik border and law enforcement officers in dealing with the criminal procedure code in line with Tajik National border management strategy is a key way of strengthening border security."

The course was conducted as part of the border security programme, focusing on building the capacity of the Tajik border security and management agencies.

This training event was supported through the provision of experts by the Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency and the Danish Refugee Council in Tajikistan.
