Are you a young or aspiring journalist under 25 with strong English skills? Apply now for the Summer School of Journalism from 1–18 July 2025 in Khujand, Tajikistan! This fully funded program brings together 20–30 journalism students and young professionals for expert-led training in ethics, digital media, and reporting on key social issues. Organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe with international partners, the Summer School offers hands-on experience to help shape the future of independent journalism. Deadline: 7 June 2025.

Are you a young journalist or aspiring journalist with good command of English, wanting to improve your skills? We invite you to apply for the Summer School of Journalism happening in Khujand, Tajikistan, this July. This special program aims to make journalism stronger, teach media literacy, and help improve reporting practices for the next generation of journalists.

The Summer School will bring together 20-30 talented people, including working journalists and outstanding students from journalism faculties in Tajikistan. We will select candidates through a competitive application process who are dedicated to improving journalism and media literacy.

Application Details:

Who can apply?  You must be 25 years old or younger when you apply.

How to apply:

Complete an application form https://www.osce.org/programme-office-in-dushanbe/591899  where you will share your background, experience, and reasons for wanting to join the program. If you are a journalism student, you will also need a recommendation letter from a teacher or mentor.

A selection committee made of organisers of the event will look at all applications. They will choose candidates based on their qualifications, diversity, and how the program might help their careers and the media environment. Selected participants will be notified a week before the Summer School starts.

Program Overview:

Duration: 1st –18th of July 2025

Location: Khujand, Tajikistan

Topics Covered: The Summer School will teach many important topics, including ethics, digital media, and reporting on human rights, children’s rights and environmental issues. Participants will also take part in fieldwork and real-world reporting projects to gain practical experience.

Expert Instructors:

This program is organized by OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe with the generous help of the EU Delegation to Tajikistan, UNICEF Tajikistan, the embassies of Germany, France, and the UK and TiKA – Turkish International Cooperation Agency.

Well known international and local experts will lead training sessions on specific topics, giving participants a chance to learn from experienced professionals.

Funding and Support:

This program has funding from various international partners to cover participants' travel, accommodation, and meals during the Summer School.
