The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe supports women empowerment in the water sector

On 27-28 September 2024, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) conducted a two-day training session for 30 members, comprising 4 men and 23 women, of the Steering Committee of the Syrdarya Women Basin Forum in Tajikistan.

On 27-28 September 2024, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) conducted a two-day training session for 30 members, comprising 4 men and 23 women, of the Steering Committee of the Syrdarya Women Basin Forum in Tajikistan.

Held in Khujand, the training aimed to enhance the Committee's capacity and encourage women's involvement in water resource management. Participants gained a deeper understanding of international water law, water diplomacy, and regional co-operation in Central Asia. Additionally, they improved their communication and conflict-resolution skills through role-playing, active listening, case studies, and group discussions.

This training aligns with the POiD’s previous activities in water resource management, demonstrating its commitment to promoting women’s participation in decision-making and supporting the OSCE’s efforts to empower women in the water sector.
