On 4 and 5 May, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, in co-operation with the Youth Group on Protection of Environment, organized a two-day Training of Trainers in Dushanbe aimed at strengthening and expanding the youth environmental movement “Green Patrols” across Tajikistan.

The training brought together 20 participants, including educators, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and youth initiatives active in environmental education. The programme focused on equipping participants with practical and interactive methodologies to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among young people. Participants enhanced their skills in facilitation, group work, and experiential learning, and developed mini-lessons on key topics such as water, biodiversity, waste management, and climate change.

The training also included sessions on planning regional activities, building partnerships with schools and Centres for Additional Education, and applying monitoring and reporting tools. As part of the programme, participants developed individual action plans outlining concrete steps to implement follow-up activities in their respective regions within the next 30 to 60 days.

The activity builds on over 20 years of experience of the “Green Patrols” initiative, which has engaged more than 10,000 pupils in environmental education and supports the development of local capacities to advance green practices in Tajikistan, in line with the OSCE’s mandate to promote comprehensive security through environmental co-operation and sustainable development.
