From 20 to 24 April, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe in partnership with the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Research Institute of Sustainable Development and Green Economy under the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, organized the Youth Eco-Camp “Green. Digital. Smart – Leadership Lab” in Levakant, Khatlon Region.
The eco-camp brought together 30 young leaders and students from the Khatlon Region, offering an interactive platform to strengthen knowledge and practical skills in sustainability, climate change, and the green economy. Participants explored key topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals, environmental challenges, and the role of youth in advancing climate action.
Through hands-on activities, participants conducted a waste collection and audit exercise, analysing local waste management practices and applying data-driven approaches to identify environmental challenges. They also enhanced their skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication, while gaining exposure to digital tools and innovative approaches for environmental problem-solving.
Working in teams, participants developed and presented youth-led project ideas addressing local environmental issues, including waste management and upcycling. The eco-camp concluded with public presentations and eco-exhibitions, highlighting participants’ practical learning outcomes and engagement.
The POiD continues to support initiatives that promote environmental education, digital skills, and youth empowerment in Tajikistan, contributing to sustainable development and climate resilience.
