OSCE provides training on domestic violence prosecution

From 25 to 27 October 2023, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (the Office), in co-operation with the Institute for Advanced Training under the General Prosecutor’s Office, organized a three-day training on domestic violence prosecution in Sarob, near Dushanbe.

From 25 to 27 October 2023, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (the Office), in co-operation with the Institute for Advanced Training under the General Prosecutor’s Office, organized a three-day training on domestic violence prosecution in Sarob, near Dushanbe. The event brought together 23 prosecutors from the Rasht Valley and Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.

The training aimed to support the teaching staff of the Institute of the Prosecutor’s Office to enhance the capacity of the prosecutors to investigate and prosecute domestic violence cases. The participants got acquainted with the concepts of gender equality, domestic violence, and its forms, including psychological aspects related to the phenomenon. They also improved their knowledge of the specifics of investigating and prosecuting domestic violence cases, the measures to be taken by the prosecutors for the protection of the victims, and the related national and international legal framework.

The training is part of the Office’s support for the General Prosecutor’s Office of Tajikistan to institutionalize the training of prosecutors in the field of investigation and prosecution of domestic violence cases. The Office will continue supporting Tajikistan to fulfill its OSCE commitments related to prevention and combatting violence against women, including domestic violence.
