OSCE brings together youth and international organizations to commemorate International Day of the Girl Child

On 11 October 2023, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (the Office) supported a one-day roundtable dedicated to the International Day of the Girl Child. The event brought together some 55 young activists, members of the Coalition De Jure de Facto, and representatives of respective government line Ministries and Agencies and international organizations from Dushanbe and the regions.

On 11 October 2023, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (the Office) supported a one-day roundtable dedicated to the International Day of the Girl Child.  The event brought together some 55 young activists, members of the Coalition De Jure de Facto, and representatives of respective government line Ministries and Agencies and international organizations from Dushanbe and the regions.

During the event, participants discussed how different stakeholders can engage in ensuring equality between men and women and respecting national traditions. They also exchanged views on the necessary measures to improve girls and women's access to education, how to overcome gender stereotypes and foster positive behavior change among youth, and innovative solutions to empower youth in promoting gender equality in Tajikistan.

The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. The supported initiative contributes to OSCE’s broader efforts to empower youth and promote gender equality in Tajikistan.
