A series of three-day workshops organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe on professional behaviour at border crossing points for a total of 48 officers from Tajikistan’s Border Troops, the Interior Ministry and Customs Service were held in Dushanbe (24-26 October 2017), Khujand (8-10 November 2017) and Kulyab (14-16 November 2017).

The workshops aimed at enhancing their awareness of ethics and professional behaviour standards and improving the participants’ knowledge of topics such as human rights and gender mainstreaming in border security. Participants also learnt how they can improve inter-agency co-operation at border crossing points.

The workshops were delivered by a Tajik expert with extensive experience and experts from the OSCE Programme Office.

“Adherence to professional standards of ethics and behaviour by law enforcement officers who serve at border crossing points may help them to make informed decisions and provide a good image of the country,” said Vyacheslav Abramets, Border Management Officer at the OSCE Office’s Politico-Military Department.

The workshops, organized as part of the OSCE Programme Office’s Border Management Unit activities, were held in support of the implementation of the Tajik National Border Management Strategy.
